There may be nothing better than leaving the house to go to class, and haveing consecutive Queen songs shuffle out of your ipod.

Weird Office of HLS commercial: "There's no good reason not to have a plan in case of a terrorist attack."

Thanks?

Someone try and tell me that these PSAs aren't a tool being used for the up coming elections. Hooray for the government playing to our fears? =/

6:15 pm - Socialization at Work
The Backstory: it hasn’t stopped raining in Davis for about a month. I actually enjoy this a good amount, aside from my ass getting wet when I have to bike home.

Gotta love liberal hippie professors that tell their children that the rain is God crying, and also help indoctrinate these children with liberal/democratic bias. I over heard this conversation with some parent on UCD’s campus with their child:

Indoctrinated little child: “Why is god crying so much recently?”
Liberal Hippie Parent: “Because George Bush is a bad man.”
Indoctrinated little child: “I don’t like that guy.”

current mood: sore

Just in case some people don't have/didn't see my new facebook picture...I think it merits posting here too. This is a result of my weekend in Berkeley...and yes, we went to a pirate party.

That's right, a pirate party.

So, i finish my last final (my arm is now the claw from Liar, Liar), and what's the first song that comes onto my iPod? That's right, We Like To Party, by The Vengaboys. I think it's a sign from God.

It's time to party. SPRING BREAK, WOOOOOOOOOT.

...Don't laugh at me. You know you wish you had Vengaboys on your iPod. =P

current mood: ecstatic

Ok, I haven't been paying attention to the news in the last few days. I can't believe I almost missed this.

Alright, if our vice president can accidentally shoot a man, isn't it possible we need to increase our gun control? I mean, if Cheney is a person of above-average intelligence, moral character, judgment, etc (at least for arguments sake), and he can shoot and almost kill a man, AND most other people aren't of the same intelligence/moral character/judgment, do we want everyone who owns and uses guns to be able to own and use guns?

I guess as a counter argument, Bush almost died from a pretzel in his first year, and I didn't want a ban on snack food. I just wanted no idiots in office.

Line item veto? Patriot Act renewal? Continued tax decreases but with an enormous cut in government programs? Really?

Cool, increased research into energy technology, and a commitment to math and science education. Cool. Sorry if I say, "I'll believe it when I see it."

As for all the foreign policy stuff, I agree with his sentiments: continued support of our troops, freedom and equality across the world, and a safer America. I strongly disagree as to the means to these ends, as well as many of the conclusions he draws from these beliefs.

Oh, yeah. And it's totally legal to spy on Americans who are talking to terrorists. It's absolutely legal to spy on any American, really. JUST GET A FUCKING WARRENT. No one’s asking you to stop, just get a warrant!

Counting down to November, 2008.

P.S.
Did he pretty much come out and tell us that we're attacking Iran next?

You scored as Capt. Mal Reynolds. The Captain. You are the captain of the ship, so the crew are your responsibility. You just want to do the job, get paid and keep flying. Why is that always so hard?

My girlfriend's a STAR!!

"Once again, Fiona Lawson is the clear star, making the best of the non-melody in All The Things She Said and not quite getting swallowed on Radio despite the barrage of sound behind her. Stunning voice, hope she keeps us informed of what she does after Stanford."

When we last left our hero, he had made the daring choice to leave the familiar and comfortable Tulane and venture out into the unknown…

Ok, so I knew where I was going: Back to Palo Alto. This past year has been an amalgamation of things both good and bad. Of course, I was 10mins away from Fiona, I led a stress free life (…with the exception of one class), played way too many computer games, had a decent job (working with kids, which I have grown to miss now that I'm not doing it anymore), and applied for colleges for the second time in my life…which no one should ever have to do.

I, of course, ended up going to Davis this fall…or I will once school starts. I decided not to go to Berkeley mainly because they didn't accept me, and that pretty much narrowed down my list of two. Classes start in a few weeks, and I'm terribly excited to be back at college. I kinda forgot what it was like, in a weird way.

Even though my parents are the epitome of cool, and let me live my own life despite living it with them, I lost that freedom that is intrinsic to the college experience. But more than that, I lost the college style companionship that you get when you step onto a college campus. Aimee came out here and worked for the summer, and when she left, I felt a loneliness that was rather unexpected. I had grown used to having a peer that I could relate to living right upstairs. As she left I recognized that I had been craving this sort of friendship all year.

Sure, I had Foothill, but I took very few classes on the main campus, and when I'm honest with myself, I thought myself above my classmates and didn't really care to socialize with them. I knew even at the time that this was incredibly arrogant of me, and it would have been in my best interests to act differently, but I found so few appealing people at Foothill, that I kinda stopped looking.

Instead I stayed where I was comfortable. I spent a lot of time at home, with Fiona, with Andrew, and at work. And, as depressing as that sounds, that was my year. At the time, it didn't seem that bad, but looking back on it I'm disappointed with myself for not doing more, not branching out more, and just…growing more.

So you see, I'm very excited to move into my apartment in Davis. I have so much more to gain than real college classes.

…Fuck. I need to pack soon.
